After nearly two years of unemployment I am happy to report that I just got myself a job. In a week I will become ViewPlus Technologies Social Media Intern. ViewPlus is a company that specializes in tactile graphics and braille embossers. They are also the only manufacturer of a braille embosser and ink jet printer combined into one machine.
As their social media intern, I have been assigned the task of getting ViewPlus involved in the social media world. So soon after I start my job look for both a twitter account and a facebook page for ViewPlus. I also will be working on their blog and updating content on their website. I have a lot of other ideas to throw at them and we'll just have to see what sticks.
I am really excited about getting a chance to work in the assistive technology world. I hope to bring a very important perspective to their company, and with luck, I will make their company even better and build a community that believes that ViewPlus's products are the only ones they'll want to buy. I encourage all of my readers to visit their website, and please let me know if you have any feedback.
If you are visually impaired, what would you like to see from a company like ViewPlus that you aren't already? If you work with visually impaired people, what would make you want to use a ViewPlus embosser over another brand?
